The Green Pahadi Foundation played a significant role in advancing the goals of the Aajeevika Mission, formally known as Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM). This central government initiative aims to combat poverty by empowering rural communities through training, resource allocation, and fostering self-sufficient micro-enterprises. The interventions by Green Pahadi Foundation were focused on enhancing access of the rural poor to technical services and building their capacities and skills for gainful and sustainable livelihoods.
Key Highlights
- Cost-Effective Mushroom Units: GPF facilitated the set-up of affordable mushroom cultivation units, tailored to local conditions, using easily available resources like agricultural waste. The low-cost approach made the project accessible and replicable, ensuring more rural families could benefit from it.
- Comprehensive Trainings for State Rural Livelihood Mission (SRLM) Groups: Selected groups were provided with in-depth training on the entire process of mushroom cultivation- from preparing substrates to harvesting and storage. These sessions were designed to empower participants with both practical skills and scientific knowledge.
- Handholding support: GPF extended ongoing support to the trained groups, guiding them through the nuances of mushroom farming. This ensured that the skills imparted during training were effectively applied and sustained over time.
- Knowledge dissemination: The initiative prioritized spreading awareness and practical know-how, encouraging community members to adopt mushroom cultivation as a viable livelihood option.
