Mushroom Training for Women of Uttarakhand Police Wives Welfare Association (UPWWA)

As part of a unique initiative by the Department of Police, Pauri Garhwal, Uttarakhand, Green Pahadi Foundation conducted a specialized training program for the women of Uttarakhand Police Wives Welfare Association (UPWWA). The objective of the program was to empower participants with practical knowledge and skills in Dhingri Mushroom Cultivation, enabling them to explore self-employment opportunities and achieve financial independence.

The training was conducted with the inspiration and support of the President of UPWWA, wife of the Senior Superintendent of Police (Sr. SP), the Nodal Officer of UPWWA (Additional SP), and a female Sub-Inspector (SI).

Participants received hands-on guidance from GPF experts on all aspects of Dhingri mushroom cultivation, including: substrate preparation, spawn mixing, bag preparation, harvesting techniques, and post-harvest handling.

Key Outcomes

  • Skill Development: Women participants gained confidence and technical know-how to independently manage mushroom cultivation units.
  • Self-Employment Opportunities: The training aimed to create livelihood avenues for police wives, encouraging them to explore entrepreneurship in mushroom farming.
