The Green Pahadi Foundation, in collaboration with Karuna Social Services, implemented the Sustainable Livelihood and Environment Conservation Project to empower rural communities and foster sustainable development. This initiative aimed to enhance the livelihoods of small farmers by providing skill-building opportunities and practical tools to improve their economic well-being.
Key Highlights
Capacity Building in Mushroom Cultivation: Recognizing the potential of mushrooms as a low-investment, high-return crop, the project focused on building the capacities of small farmers, particularly rural women. Targeted trainings were delivered for teaching them the techniques of mushroom cultivation, including care, harvesting, and maintenance.
Practical Support: To ensure quick results and immediate engagement, trained farmers were provided ready-to-fruit mushroom bags, enabling them to implement their newly acquired skills, reducing the time between learning and earning while building confidence in mushroom cultivation.
Community Engagement: Worked closely with local village communities to ensure widespread participation and knowledge-sharing, fostering a collaborative environment for sustainable practices.
Project Outcomes
An additional income source enhanced the livelihoods of small farmers.
The provision of ready-to-fruiting bags allowed farmers to start mushroom cultivation without delays, accelerating their ability to generate income.
