As part of the UNDP’s project “Green Recovery Pathway for India”, Green Pahadi Foundation played a key role in promoting green livelihoods, integrating climate-resilient practices, and strengthening capacities for sustainable development in targeted project areas. This initiative aimed to foster socio-economic recovery post-COVID-19 while addressing critical environmental challenges through sustainable natural resource management under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA).

Key Highlights

1. Awareness Campaigns

  • Targeted 5,000 beneficiaries across villages in Pauri, Pabau, Khirsu, Kot, and Kaljikhal blocks.
  • Encouraged community involvement in MGNREGA activities, including daily wage labor, natural resource management, and development initiatives.

2. Sensitization on Forest and Land Conservation

  • Educated communities near forest areas on forest and wasteland restoration techniques.
  • Promoted water and soil conservation measures, afforestation, and protective works such as: Construction of check dams, Rainwater harvesting structures, and Protection walls.

3. Training on Climate-Resilient Practices

  • Conducted knowledge transfer sessions for village communities on social protection measures and climate-resilient practices through NRM (Natural Resource Management) under MGNREGA.
  • Provided practical insights on sustainable conservation techniques and resource management strategies.

Project Outcomes

  • 5,000 Beneficiaries Reached: Awareness raised on sustainable practices and MGNREGA activities, fostering greater community engagement in natural resource management initiatives.
  • Enhanced Forest and Land Conservation: Active community participation in afforestation, restoration activities, and protective works, contributing to environmental preservation.
  • Capacity Building for Climate Resilience: Strengthened the knowledge and skills of local stakeholders to adopt sustainable, climate-resilient practices and resource conservation techniques under MGNREGA.
